Assembly of the reporter constructs. The wild-type promoters, as well as promoters with the targeted TEs removed (TE-Del), were ligated into the pGL3 Basic vectors, upstream of the luciferase genes. The genomic locations (hg38) of the promoter regions and the sizes of deletions are shown for each of the candidate genes: a SYT1, b UCA1, c AK4, d) PSAT1. Arrows represent TE orientation relative to the candidate genes. Triangles represent the deletions
