The association between the log2-transformed TE expression (independent variable) and the log2-transformed gene expression (dependent variable) was tested using a linear model (lm). Phenotype group (IPF/donor) was included in the model as a covariate. The p-value correction was performed using the Benjamini and Hochberg (BH) test. Only the expression of significant genes and significantly upregulated TEs located next to the gene (max distance 50 kb, cis loci) are summarized here (p.adjusted < 0.05)
